Web application to view crime hotspots around CMU at certain times of day.
Hello! My name is Jeffrey Chiu, and I am a recent graduate of Carnegie Mellon University. I studied Information Systems with a minor in Business Administration, and have interests in Project Management, Data Analytics, Application Development, and Front-End Development. I've had the tremendous priviledge of working for Intel Corporation and the NTU IoX Center as an intern, and am currently working as a Web Developer for the University of Pittsburgh, and am open to new opportunities.
I really enjoy being involved within the community. I previously served on the National Board of the East Coast Asian American Student Union as a Special Events Coordinator. I also previously served as the Vice President for Carnegie Mellon's Asian Students Association, and the Philanthropy and Recruitment chair for Phi Delta Theta PA Rho. I was also involved in the CMU Sports Analytics Club, Taiwanese Students Association, and did research in Doran's Lab.
I've had a lot of experience working within application development, and through many different coding languages and technologies. I'm well-versed in the MVC model, and have created web applications through Ruby on Rails, Ruby on Jekyll, Flask, and have some experience with Django. In regards to mobile application development, I am currently learning to develop in Swift and Kotlin, for iOS and Android applications respectively. I also have experience coding in SQL, C, R, Java, among other languages.
My projects currently involve creating websites to host technological functionalities of the University of Pittsburgh as well as the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). I have created a number of web applications in multiple frameworks, a search widget, and installing functionalities such as multiple authorization/authentication and daily Cron job imports.
I taught students concepts of application design and development through Ruby on Rails, through weekly lab sessions, office hours, and assignment grading.
My main project involved working to optimize the efficiency of a GPU process. I did this through creating neural node translators capable of taking network input and then passing it all through into an automated process that would generate python scripts based off of CPU or GPU processes
I was mainly concerned with building an application that could connect a lot of functionalities of an interactive and instructional Chatbot. I built a web application in Ruby on Rails, combining numerous technologies to create one centralized application, as well as adding dashboarding and authentication and authorization features, among other things.
I worked to create an instructional Chatbot, primarily regarding the speech recognition part of it. I collected speech data with Amazon Mechnical Turk, and analyzed it with SQL code. I then used the data to help build a speech recognizer, and displayed it through the web through the Flask microframework.
I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a B.S. in Information Systems and a minor in Business Administration in May of 2021. I've taken a varied courseload, with classes regarding Backend Development, Web Design, Consulting, Application Development, among many others.
I graduated from Lynbrook High School in San Jose, CA in May of 2017.
